According to a Coast Guard press release, the sector deployed an Air Station Jayhawk Helicopter team equipped with a Specialized Trauma Assistance Team (STAR) to provide immediate aid, the aircrew demonstrating swift precision as they maneuvered above the cruise ship, battling the elements to reach the individuals who were in desperate need of medical attention; they were situated approximately 13 miles offshore at the time.
