Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office nabbed a convicted felon during a routine traffic check in Harris County, officials reported. The stop, executed on February 9th in the vicinity of the 26000 block of the Northwest Freeway, led to the apprehension of Luis Ortiz who was wanted on multiple counts of theft.
Ortiz, whose criminal history precedes him, was driving when law enforcement flagged his vehicle down for a traffic infringement. With quick identification, deputies recognized Ortiz as a man with three open warrants for theft clinging to his name, according to the official Facebook page of Precinct 4.
Constable Mark Herman, detailing the episode, spelled out the capture succinctly: "Luis Ortiz was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants. His bond and court information have not been set at this time."
As Ortiz's legal entanglements tighten, details regarding his bond amount and court dates remain unannounced.
