The Conyers Police Department has officially opened its doors to the community, offering an in-depth eight-week Citizen Police Academy starting March 12. According to a recent release, participants will get an up-close look at the inner workings of the department, covering everything from the intricacies of crime scene investigation to the complexities of cybercrime.
With a weekly commitment of two and a half hours, set to begin sharply at 6 p.m. at the Conyers Police Department Public Safety Complex on Scott Street, local residents looking to attend need to act quickly to secure a spot. The academy aims not only to educate but to build bridges between officers and the community they are sworn to protect. To be eligible to participate, applicants must be at least 18 years of age with space limited to only 20 spots, so it’s suggested to apply quickly to not miss out.
For those with an eagerness to explore the life of law enforcement more intimately, the program promises interactive elements too. Alongside safety tips, participants will have the chance to solve a mock crime scene and to make use of a judgmental shooting simulator, for a glimpse into split-second decision-making under pressure.
Applications are already available and interested folks can either visit the official Conyers Police website or directly download an application here. With the deadline set for March 1, time is of the essence for those looking to gain an unprecedented look behind the badge and to potentially reshape their understanding of day-to-day police work.
