
Cranston Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly harassed and made physical contact with a teenage girl on her way to school early Thursday morning. The incident, which unfolded on Gansett Avenue at around 7:48 a.m., has prompted authorities to enhance patrols in the area while detectives pursue their investigation.
The suspect is reported to have approached the student near the Bain Track, speaking in Spanish and subsequently grasping her arm as she attempted to leave. The young girl managed to wrest free and sought assistance from a nearby crossing guard, according to details provided by the Cranston Police Department's Facebook page. After fleeing the scene, the assailant was last seen darting between businesses and disappearing into a residential neighborhood.
Described as a Hispanic male between 5’6 and 5’7 with a medium complexion, the man was last spotted wearing a tan jacket, blue sweatpants adorned with white stripes, and black sneakers. Eyewitness accounts and the victim's testimony have been critical in piecing together a profile of the suspect, whom the authorities are urgently trying to identify.
