Bexar County sheriff deputies brought a high-speed pursuit to an end, recovering a cache of ammunition and illegal drugs from a stolen vehicle on San Antonio's West Side. The chase unfolded after deputies spotted a white Kia bearing the scars of theft, its shattered rear window a blatant marker of its unlamented seizure from its rightful owner, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
The stolen car, after a failed attempt by deputies to initiate a traffic stop, sped away, leading to a swift chase that terminated near a distribution plant off U.S. Highway 90 West. Occupying the car, Carlos Arturo Martinez, the chased owner of a lengthy rap sheet, opted for flight over surrender, engaging deputies in a foot pursuit. A K-9 unit, keen and faithful, promptly thwarted Martinez's elusive antics, as detailed by Express News.
A subsequent search around the concealment Martinez wore as a futile shroud yielded a pistol and 14 grams of cocaine, suspected of being ditched by him in the desperate minutes of his flight. Lurking within the confines of the stolen Kia, deputies uncovered an arsenal of over 300 rounds of both rifle and pistol ammunition, painting a grave picture of the potentiality nestled in the sedan's belly.
Martinez was carted off to Bexar County Jail, his freedom exchanged for charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, and multiple counts pertaining to vehicle burglary and criminal mischief. Already decorated with warrants for possession of a controlled substance, Martinez now contemplates his misdeeds behind bars.
