McCallister, has earned the respect and admiration of his peers, receiving the Officer of the Fourth Quarter 2023 accolade for his standout performance in the Patrol Division. The badge number 383 now symbolizes a benchmark of excellence after the Sergeant overseeing Charlie Shift Patrol, R. Owens, penned a nomination letter highlighting McCallister's remarkable achievements.
"Throughout the year, Officer McCallister has demonstrated his ability to consistently be a high performer in the Patrol Division," Owens stated, as per the DeSoto Police Department. His unwavering dedication and, moral compass, along with his eagerness for knowledge made him a role model for both seasoned officers and rookies alike.
Officer McCallister's contributions went beyond the streets. He played a vital role in supporting the DeSoto Criminal Investigations Division and the High Intensity Criminal Response Unit. Lieutenant Kirkland, a symbol of DWI enforcement success, endorsed McCallister for the DWI M.A.D.D. Award due to his proactive approach in making a total of seven DWI arrests during his patrol on Charlie – Night Shift, putting him fourth overall in the division. In addition, McCallister led his department in felony-grade arrests in 2023, an impressive feat acknowledged by his superiors and subordinates.
The officer's life-saving actions were also a centerpiece of his nomination. McCallister made history within the department by being the first officer to administer NARCAN to an overdose victim during an emergency call, a decision that earned him a commendation for his quick thinking and swift intervention. "This incident was instrumental in his nomination for Officer of the Quarter – Q1 2023 and nomination for a Life Saving Award," detailed Owens in his nomination letter, per the DeSoto Police Department.
