The family of Lina Sardar Khil is grappling with yet another birthday for their missing daughter, who vanished over two years ago. Lina, who would now be six years old, disappeared in San Antonio back in December 2021. Desperately waiting for any news, her family faces frustration as recent leads have fallen flat.

Last week, San Antonio Police Department engaged in a renewed search after receiving a fresh tip regarding Lina's case, according to ABC7NY. The tip, which came in early Thursday morning, led investigators to scour an area behind the Helix Apartments, located approximately half a mile from the place where Lina was last seen. Despite their efforts and the introduction of new information, the lead failed to bring them closer to finding Lina. Trying to keep the case's momentum going, Officer Ricardo Guzman told ABC7NY that detectives are still using all available tools and collaborating with the FBI.

Lina's father, outlined through a translator, has recently expressed a loss of confidence in the police staff currently assigned to his daughter's case. He told KENS5, "As I demand the changing and switching the case manager or the detective for Lina’s case, they make their own rules after that and say no, we can’t do that it’s the law." SAPD has declined further comment and states that they will continue to follow up on all leads received.

While the family struggles with the continued absence of their little girl, the reward for information about Lina has mounted to a significant sum. The Islamic Center of San Antonio raised their contribution to the reward on Lina's fourth birthday to $200,000, and together with Crime Stoppers of San Antonio's $50,000 offer, the total reward now stands at an alluring $250,000. In anticipation of Lina’s 6th birthday, family spokesperson Pamela Allen communicated to ABC7NY that the family is "on edge".

Authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any information related to Lina or her whereabouts. The police are asking anyone with tips to contact the SAPD's Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313. With every phone call, hope lingers that a breakthrough will reunite Lina with her family, who are waiting to restore her light to their lives.
