A Detroit man has been slapped with a staggering 26 felony charges after an alleged crime spree involving sexual assault, armed robbery, and kidnapping in Northville Township.
Javon Bryant Anderson, 29, was accused of luring a man outside his home on January 20 and then assaulting him. Anderson is said to have then forced the victim back inside the residence, where he sexually assaulted a woman while a 1-year-old child and the male victim were held at gunpoint. The Detroit News reported that the bond for Anderson was set at $500,000 following his arraignment. His next court appearance is to tentatively begin on February 16.
Authorities have been actively investigating the incident, which took place near Eight Mile Road and Silver Spring Drive. A statement acquired by ClickOnDetroit outlines that Anderson's charges include first-degree criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery, kidnapping, home invasion, and felon in possession of a firearm, among other offenses. There has been no indication if Anderson had any prior connection to the victims.
During the course of the investigation, a second suspect was identified and has since been taken into federal custody to face weapons charges. A joint operation with Northville Township police, FBI, Michigan State Police, and more resulted in the execution of search warrants at multiple locations. The second suspect's identity will be released following federal arraignment, according to hometownlife.com.
