Detroit is set to see a mix of clouds and sunshine this week, with temperatures hovering just around the 40-degree mark, offering residents a period of calm but chilly winter weather. Today, early risers in the Motor City may encounter patchy fog before 10 am, but as it lifts, they can expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 40, as the northeast wind blows gently at 3 to 6 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, the skies will turn mostly cloudy bringing a low around 29 degrees, while the north-northeast wind will keep steady around 7 mph, and then looking ahead into Monday the sky will maintain that cloud coverage and a high near 39 degrees as the north-northeast wind picks up slightly to around 9 mph, the National Weather Service reports. The partly cloudy conditions set for Monday night will see the low-temperature dip to around 27 degrees, with a northeast wind blowing at a mild 5 to 7 mph.
As we move into Tuesday, Detroiters will welcome a mostly sunny day with a high nearing 41 degrees, with the wind continuing its northerly journey at around 6 mph before shifting east-southeast in the afternoon, a trend of mild but stable weather that seems persistently set to hold through the week, a trend that is perhaps a restrained battle against the usual rambunctious cold of a Michigan winter. Tuesday night's forecast predicts a return to partly cloudy skies and a low again around 29 degrees.
Varying degrees of cloud cover will continue through the latter half of the week; Wednesday's temperature is expected to peak at 45 degrees under partly sunny skies, while the evening will see more clouds and a low of 36, Thursday will usher in more clouds again with a high near 52, the forecast says, and residents should take note that beginning Thursday night, showers may introduce themselves after 1 am, and the weather is expected to get breezy as the low settles in around 45 degrees. A similar pattern of showers and breeziness is projected for Friday, with temperatures hovering a degree higher at 53, and the nighttime cooling down to around 42, before leading into a Saturday with potential showers but partly sunny skies and a high of 48, as the city straddles the line between late winter and the early whispers of spring.
