
In a grim incident on Belle Isle, a driver was killed in a single-car crash after their vehicle struck a utility pole and erupted into flames. The fatal accident occurred yesterday night around 8:35 p.m., according to Detroit authorities.
The Detroit Police Department responded to the crash near Strand and Woodside Drives. Upon arrival, first responders encountered a car enshrouded in fire, making it impossible to immediately locate the driver, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. The Detroit Fire Department was swiftly at the scene to extinguish the blaze, which revealed a tragic sight once the fire was subdued.
Hidden beneath the fiery wreckage, officials discovered a body seated in the driver's chair. As per a statement obtained by CBS Detroit, the Michigan State Police were contacted by the registered owner of the vehicle post-crash, who disclosed they had loaned their car to a female acquaintance for errands. The deceased driver's family confirmed this information to police.
