In a brazen act of theft, a woman accompanied by her young child in a stroller pilfered nearly $1,000 worth of goods from a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in El Cajon. Tytiana Johnson, 29, was accused of removing anti-theft devices and exiting the store with merchandise amounting to about $975.
Thursday's heist, however, was short-lived as El Cajon Police officers nabbed Johnson shortly after nearby, the 29-year-old mother with a criminal record including theft and drug offenses. In her audacious attempt to steal with her child in tow, the police found drugs within arm’s reach of the innocent bystander, her child, who sat in the stroller amidst the unlawful act.
The child was subsequently placed in protective custody following the mother’s arrest. According to the El Cajon Police Department, grand theft charges were brought against Johnson, adding another chapter to her extensive history of arrests.
