Sad Summer Fest Returns to Pontiac with Mayday Parade and The Maine in the SpotlightSource: Google Street View

The music scene at Pontiac's Crofoot Festival Grounds is set to buzz with emo zest as FOX 2 Detroit reports the return of Sad Summer Fest on July 21. Promising a blend of wistful melodies and electric energy, this single-stage, multi-city summer tour kicks off on July 12th in California and wraps up on August 9th.

In its fifth year, the festival claims to fill the void left by the iconic Vans Warped Tour, featuring a roster of pop-punk mavens. Mayday Parade and The Maine, founders of the festival, will lead the charge once more with help from The Wonder Years, We The Kings, among others. Notably, Michigan's date will also celebrate local acts like The Summer Set and Diva Bleach. According to Grimy Goods, this reunion is the first since the festival's 2019 debut.

True to Sad Summer Fest's approach, the music, for the most part, will resonate across venues and fortify connections amongst fans, as claimed by Mayday Parade's Alex Garcia in a statement obtained by Audacy. "It also serves as a unifying force in our music scene, a place for every emo kid to gather around, connect with fellow fans, and truly be themselves," Garcia said, heralding the summer nights of shared anthems and harmonies.

Ticket mayhem is set to ensue with pre-sale launching on March 1, followed by a general sale on March 8th. The Maine's frontman, John O'Callaghan shared with Audacy, “A lot can change in four summers. And for me, a lot has.” He revels in the consistent joy of live music, pondering the festival's culinary dilemmas with a cheeky, "Corn dogs or nah?"

The curated lineup ensures that all the bands get the spotlight, differentiating Sad Summer Fest from larger festivals with multitudes of stages and acts. Bands such as Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, and Daisy Grenade will share the stage on this circuit that aims to bring back some essence of the summer's past whilst making new waves in the alternative music scene.
