An Arizona woman, formerly connected with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, is facing a staggering 146 charges of animal cruelty and neglect after authorities discovered a grim scene at her residence, including dead animals crammed in a freezer. Deputies described finding numerous animals languishing in spaces "filled with feces" with no access to food or water and Houchens was known in the area for operating an animal rescue, even offering pet sitting services around Cochise County, yet it doesn't square with the alleged neglect and cruelty her animals endured according to the Sheriff's Office, her arrest sends a jarring signal to a community that believed she was caring for vulnerable creatures.
