A dust-up at home has landed a Fort Worth detective in hot water, with allegations of family violence leading to his arrest. According to local sources, Detective Dusty Dwyer was cuffed and charged by Rhome Police on Wednesday for assault family violence, and interference with an emergency call – crimes that didn't occur while he was serving his badge but may still tarnish the force.
Fort Worth Police have confirmed the allegations, stating that Dwyer was swiftly placed on restricted duty, effectively stripping him of all policing powers amid the pending investigations. “The Fort Worth Police Department holds its officers to a high standard on and off duty; therefore, a thorough investigation to collect and review the facts and the circumstances of these allegations will be conducted," the department remarked in a statement, as reported by NBC DFW.
The nine-year veteran of the department, who at the time of his arrest was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, finds himself with a future in law enforcement hanging by a thread. The Fort Worth Police Department has opened an internal affairs investigation to run parallel with the ongoing criminal inquiry into Dwyer's purported actions.
It remains unclear whether Dwyer has sought legal representation to address these allegations. Nevertheless, Fort Worth Police maintain a stance of transparency and accountability, promising that "a thorough investigation to collect and review the facts and the circumstances of these allegations will be conducted," as iterated in a news release obtained by FOX 4 News. This story will undoubtedly continue to unfold as the community eagerly awaits the truth behind a protector's fall from grace.
