
A wild confrontation between police and a 39-year-old man ended in an arrest, with authorities alleging that the suspect rammed two patrol cars before being subdued with a Taser in Gainesville. James Edward Harrison, from Jefferson, met with police force after he reportedly became non-compliant and escalated the situation near Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway.
The Gainesville Police Department responded to 911 calls regarding a white Dodge Charger that sat obstructing traffic, when they approached the vehicle, Harrison refused to cooperate and instead chose confrontation, ramming two police vehicles, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Post the altercation, the officers arrested Harrison after deploying a Taser, he was then transported to Hall County Jail, following a brief stop at a hospital for medical clearance.
Charges now loom over Harrison, including four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, and three counts of obstruction of an officer, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. As of now, he remains in custody without bond. No officers were injured during this incident, however, the damage to the patrol cars has not been specified.
Details about the precipitating factors of Harrison's behavior, his condition during the encounter, or the extent of methamphetamine involvement are currently under wraps, neither arrest reports have suggested Harrison was under the influence during the incident police have yet to release further information.
