A Genesee County man was slapped with charges Monday following a road rage incident on I-75 in Oakland County, where it's alleged he shot at a woman on the freeway. Michigan State Police arrested 23-year-old Thomas Robert Trim of Mt. Morris, who now faces allegations including Discharge of a weapon from a vehicle and Felonious Assault, as reported by The Detroit News. The episode unraveled near Grange Hall Rd. in Groveland Township, police told FOX 2 Detroit.
Details gathered by WWJ Newsradio 950 reveal the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. on February 22 when the victim claimed Trim, driving aggressively, attempted to force her off the road, overtaking other cars on the shoulder. He reportedly pointed a gun at her before discharging it through his open passenger-side window, and after going around her vehicle, shooting at her again from the driver-side window, recounted by the woman who sped away unharmed but called 911.
Upon hitting the streets closed by the authorities, they systematically combed the area for evidence. Trim was later apprehended by the police in his automobile. His arraignment took place through the 52-2 District Court and was handed a $50,000 bond. As reported by The Detroit News, Trim remained at the Oakland County Jail following his arraignment.
MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, in speaking about the needless violent outburst, stated, "Here is another case of senseless gun violence because someone couldn’t handle driving down the road," as recorded by FOX 2 Detroit.
