In a turn of a good fortune, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has called off the search for George Anthony Figueroa, the 52-year-old Hispanic man who was reported missing from Covina last month. Figueroa, whose disappearance prompted a widespread community response, has been found safe and is no longer listed as missing.
The search efforts which involved the public, media, Aero Bureau, and deputy personnel, were called off once Figueroa was located. In their brief message, the department expressed their gratitude for "their tireless efforts in the search for Mr. Figueroa," according to the LASD - Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept Information Bureau (SIB)
Figueroa vanished on January 26, 2024, after last being seen on the 16000 block of Cypress Street. Standing at 5'05", weighing around 195 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes, he was wearing a dark-colored jacket and blue jeans at the time he went missing. Officials had stated that there was concern for his well-being, as he required medication.
During the time of his disappearance, the department had urged anyone with information to step forward and provided various avenues for anonymous tips. The public played a crucial role, utilizing platforms such as the "Crime Stoppers" hotline and the "P3 Tips" Mobile APP, underscoring the community's vested interest in the safe return of Mr. Figueroa, as per LASD - Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept Information Bureau (SIB).
