
Valentine's Day took a turn for the worse for two individuals caught in the act of theft. In Harris County, constables apprehended Kimberly Lanier and Torrance Amos following reports of a theft at a store on the 20100 block of the North Freeway. Officials confirmed the duo was detained at the scene and discovered to have arrived in a vehicle with a history of being stolen and used in prior thefts.
The deed did not go unnoticed, as eager deputies swiftly responded to the call and managed to quickly detain the suspects involved. Investigative efforts by Constable Mark Herman's Office unveiled that not only were Lanier and Amos attempting to shoplift, but they brazenly utilized a stolen vehicle to carry out their alleged crime, an action that is to surely add to their charges. Found to have prior convictions, both face serious legal consequences, with Lanier being charged with Felony Theft and Amos staring down the barrel of two counts of Felony Theft, in addition to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
A statement on Constable Herman's official Facebook page gave a succinct account of the day's events. "They were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Kimberly Lanier was charged with Felony Theft due to prior convictions and Torrance Amos was charged with two counts of Felony Theft due to prior convictions and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle," the post outlined. No information has been released about their bond status or court dates so far.
The investigation continues with Constable Herman's deputies piecing together further details to present a robust case. The suspects remain in jail awaiting further legal processing and the setting of their bond and court information, which as of now has not been decided.
