February is a time where the country looks back and honors the trials and triumphs of African Americans, a lineage woven deeply into the fabric of the nation's narrative. As Black History Month takes off, local law enforcement agencies are amongst those tipping the hat to black heritage. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office took to social media this week to express pride in its own slice of history: appointing the first black female Sheriff in Minnesota.
