Tragedy struck the West Side when a man in his 50s became the victim of a hit-and-run. As FOX San Antonio reports, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. at the junction of South San Gabriel Ave. and W. Cesar Chavez Blvd., leaving the bicyclist injured and the perpetrator at large.
Riding his bike when an SUV plowed into him, the driver of the dark-colored vehicle chose to flee instead of offering assistance, police said. The injured cyclist, flung aside like a rag doll by the relentless metal beast, was left alone in the aftermath of the vehicle’s haste.
Authorities have yet to apprehend the driver responsible for the accident. Following the hit-and-run, the injured man was promptly transported to the hospital, situated in stable condition with minor injuries.
The community reeled from the news, expressing concern for the safety of cyclists and outrage over the hit-and-run behavior.
