Gunfire disrupted the stillness of Bexar County neighborhoods in separate incidents early Tuesday as homeowners faced off with vehicle burglary suspects—one being shot while another shot a suspect, local authorities report. In West Bexar County, a homeowner was shot in the abdomen after confronting someone breaking into his vehicle, according to KSAT. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. on the 8800 block of Creager Canyon, not far from Shaenfield Road and Loop 1604, where deputies report a white sport utility vehicle made a hasty getaway following the shooting, the shooter remains at large, and the homeowner now in the hospital is expected to recover.
Across town, on the East Side, a break-in attempt turned violent when a homeowner shot a burglary suspect in both legs, the encounter happened around 3:30 a.m. off Caribou Creek near Farm-to-Market 78 and Woodlake Parkway as reported by MSN. The East Side homeowner had spotted two individuals trying to access his vehicle and when he confronted them, it led to gunfire, police say.
Law enforcement officials have not released additional details concerning these cases as investigations are ongoing.
