A suspected drunk driver was thrown in the slammer after deputies caught her behind the wheel three sheets to the wind following a car crash, officials said. According to the statement from Constable Mark Herman's Office, the wreck happened on Fry Road, where the blowout revealed that one driver, Jennifer Phillips, was boozed up beyond belief.
On February 4, Phillips got tangled in a motor vehicle crash and when the law arrived, she couldn't hide her inebriated state, deputies noted her showing telltale signs of intoxication, her speech was slurred her balance was off, and it seemed coordinating simple tasks was a bridge too far. After deputies ran her through their sobriety hoopla – the one-two punch of balancing acts and ABCs – she flunked with flying colors, her breathalyzer reading a knee-wobbling 0.24, that's triple the legal limit for those keeping score at home.
In a public announcement plastered on Facebook, Constable Herman laid out the stark numbers, "Jennifer Phillips was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated." And with the gavel coming down, her bond was pinned at a meager $100.00 out of County Court 16, pointing perhaps to a system more forgiving than the ones she faced on that road.
Phillips is now cooling her heels in the county clink, waiting to face the music in court for her alleged highway hijinks, with her date with the judge yet to be stamped on the docket.
