A man has been cuffed and charged in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a teenager and left two young women injured in Houston, police said. The episode unfolded in the early hours on a street corner known for its quiet nights, which turned chaotic last week.

The accused, Oscar Vasquez-Guzman, 42, faces murder charges after a night of violence ended in bloodshed and tragedy. During an altercation that spiraled quickly out of control, gunshots rang out, striking down Otarion Lomax, 19, and wounding two females, ages 18 and 19. This led to an all-out manhunt to bring to swiftly capture those responsible.

According to a statement obtained by CityofHouston.News, HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective K. Collier reported a flurry of police activity as officers converged on the scene. The initial call disclosed three victims shot and hastily rushed to the hospital from 7600 Beechnut Street shortly after midnight.

Upon further probing by detectives, the victims were said to have been southbound on the Southwest Freeway when a suspect, later identified as Vasquez-Guzman, purportedly opened fire from a gray or silver Toyota Tundra. These events quickly unfolded, according to the report, sparking a citywide search that concluded with Vasquez-Guzman's arrest on January 30—just days after the tragic incident.

Lomax suffered a fatal wound and was pronounced dead the following day. While the two women were also hit, they have since been treated and released, grappling with the trauma of surviving such a harrowing event. Vasquez-Guzman was nabbed by cops and charged, now awaiting his day in court.
