A Houston woman has died following a solo-vehicle car crash in the early hours of Monday morning. The accident took place at 10800 South Post Oak Road around 2:10 a.m., as confirmed by the Houston Police Department.
Though her name has not yet been released, the victim was a 29-year-old female whose identity is being verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to the City of Houston's official news site, the woman was driving a white Nissan Kicks that veered into the median and collided with a tree. The reasons behind this fatal maneuver remain unknown.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Bibb are leading the ongoing investigation. The scene was promptly attended by the Houston Fire Department paramedics who transported the driver to Ben Taub General Hospital. Alas, it was there that she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that no other vehicles were implicated in this tragic incident, which took the life of the young woman just as the city slept. The circumstances leading up to the crash are still under review.
