
Houston authorities are currently piecing together the tragic circumstances that led to a woman's death late Saturday night on the Southwest Freeway, as per reports by the Houston Police Department. The 36-year-old victim, whose name hasn't been released pending formal identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was fatally struck by a car while she lay in the roadway.
The incident took place at the 9001 Southwest Freeway service road around 11:20 p.m., and despite the efforts of paramedics who arrived swiftly at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead there, the service road was consequently a hive of emergency activity as law enforcement cordoned off the area. According to cityofhouston.news, the driver, a 53-year-old male piloting a black Honda Accord was not found to be impaired following the accident and was subsequently released by the authorities.
