As prom season swings into full gear, a different kind of celebration takes center stage – Night to Shine, an event dedicated to teens and adults with special needs. On Friday night, churches around the globe, including Northstar Church in Kennesaw, rolled out the red carpet, literally, for these often-overlooked members of society. "You'll hear it from the Tim Tebow Foundation and the churches that host it, it's about showing God's love for every individual," Courtney Miller with Northstar Church told FOX 5 Atlanta.

Now in its tenth year, the initiative by the Tim Tebow Foundation started with a single location and has ballooned to include more than 700 churches across 50 countries. Each location puts its own spin on the event, but the essence remains constant – a prom night experience radiating with joy and inclusiveness. Northstar Church saw a turnout of over 150 guests, each making a star-studded entrance to cheers and applause. At Wildare Church, volunteers and guests alike revelled in an evening featuring karaoke, dancing, and a catered dinner, "The people who come absolutely love it," event coordinator Trish Shafer, explained, as noted in a segment covered by The Vindicator.

Amidst the glam of suits and sparkly dresses, the event provides a variety of pampering stations, from manicures to shoe shines. Activities abound, with limo rides and photo booths adding to the high-spirited atmosphere. For one night, barriers are brushed aside as the dance floor opens up to all. "It makes me want to dance and sing," enthused attendee Will Bailey at Northstar's gathering, as he got his shoes shined for the occasion.

Coming to a crescendo at the end of the night, every attendee is crowned as prom king or queen, a heartwarming tradition that underscores the event's ethos of acceptance and celebration. "It's a really special, emotional part of the night," Shafer stated, elaborating on the crowning ceremony that manifests the event's core message: everyone is royal, everyone is loved. Volunteers feel the magic too, as Amy Gresham putting it simply, "It's such a magical night," in an interview given to FOX 5 Atlanta.

While prom-goers soak up the limelight, parents and caregivers receive their due respite in designated areas, enjoying their own slice of serenity and fellowship. In Wildare, Pastor Steve Anderson, a new addition to the church team, found the outreach event to not only be a joyful occasion but a benchmark of the church's commitment to serving the community. "I think it’s absolutely wonderful," Anderson declared, as he prepared to pitch in for his first Night to Shine, according to The Vindicator.
