A string of robberies in Hays County, Texas, has led to the arrest of 18-year-old Rudy Joe Luis Romero, according to an announcement from local authorities. Romero faces serious charges, including two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity, and evading arrest.

The teenager from Kyle was nabbed on Monday after a brief chase on foot by Hays County Sheriff's deputies. His alleged crime spree spanned from January 25 to February 3, targeting several convenience stores. According to the Fox San Antonio report, Romero is accused of demanding money from the cashier while feigning possession of a gun at the 7-11 on Hill Street/I-35 Northbound Frontage Rd, and again at the 7-11 on South Loop 4/I-35 Southbound Frontage Rd.

The third robbery, which saw the suspect displaying what looked like a gun in his waistband, took place at the Speed-In Shell Station on Creekside Trl. at FM 150. Furthermore, Romero is suspected in similar robberies within the neighboring municipalities of San Marcos and Buda. As it stands, Romero is being held in the Hays County Jail, with a cumulative bond set at $205,000.

In a statement obtained by KXAN, the City of Kyle said detectives from Kyle Police coordinated with other agencies to identify Romero as the suspect leading to an arrest warrant being issued. At this time, an attorney for Romero has not been listed online. KXAN noted they would reach out for a statement if information becomes available.
