Lake Oswego Shocker, Dad Charged with Drugging Daughter's Friends at Sleepover

A Lake Oswego dad charged with the drugging of three 12-year-old girls at his daughter's sleepover. Michael Meyden, 57, is accused of putting benzodiazepines in mango smoothies he served to the girls. According to OregonLive, Meyden was arraigned and pleaded not guilty, with bail set at $50,000.

The unsettling events came to light after the affected girls felt groggy and reported blacking out, with one facing severe drowsiness and imbalance requiring hospital care, leading to an investigation where Meyden, urged the smoothies containing white chunks on them to drink, reported BNNBreaking. Meyden turned himself into the Clackamas County Jail late Tuesday following the investigation that began on August 26 when the girls tested positive for benzodiazepine at Randall Children’s Hospital.

The legal repercussions for Meyden are yet to unfold fully, with Mark Cogan, his lawyer, advising to hold off on passing judgment. “Mr. Meyden is presumed innocent and we hope that people will reserve judgment until all of the facts and circumstances are known,” Cogan said in a statement obtained by OregonLive.
