Lewisville residents have been given a shot at cheaper clean energy thanks to a new initiative. The city has teamed up with Solar Switch to run a group buying program, easing the path for locals to get their hands on high-quality solar panels and batteries without breaking the bank.
Interested homeowners and small business owners can join forces to lock in a lower price for rooftop solar setups through Solar Switch, which operates on the strength of the community to drive down costs. It’s a strategy that banks on numbers for negotiation power and it’s been gaining traction as more cities look for sustainable options to cut down on carbon footprints. By simply signing up, no strings attached, folks can potentially save some green while going green.
The process is fairly straightforward. Before March 13, Lewisville denizens can sign themselves up on SolarSwitch.com/Lewisville, supplying basic details about their rooftops like size and direction. Rest assured, the program promises that there won't be any unsolicited sales calls or sharing of personal data. Then, comes the auction, where qualified solar installers get down to brass tacks, vying for the gig in a reverse auction format.
Come April 17, anyone who signed up will receive a personalized proposal, "including the estimated costs and the specifications of the installation," as per the City of Lewisville, Texas. Those who like the numbers they see can then proceed to the next steps, or else walk away without dropping a dime. For the ones moving forward, the winning bidder will reach out, climb onto your roof to take a gander, and set up a time to get those solar panels up and running.
