A notorious gang enforcer will spend the rest of his days behind bars for executing a series of "monstrous" murders, putting a chilling end to a bloody chapter of gangland retribution in Athens. Lesley Chappell Green, known on the streets as "Grip," was handed a life sentence without possibility of parole for his role in the brutal killings of three men as part of a vendetta orchestrated by the Gangster Disciples, a feared national crime syndicate.
Green, 35, from Stone Mountain, was convicted on RICO conspiracy charges last August after a jury found him guilty of several crimes including murder and participation in gang violence. He was a high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples' Enforcement Team, who wielded violence to discipline members and enforce gang rule, as per information obtained by WSBTV. Green's conviction relates to the 2018 murder of Walter Brown, a gang member whose death sparked a vengeful spree led by Green and cohorts.
After Browner lured Rodriquez Rucker on a doomed path home, Green and Philmon Deshawn Chambers, aka "Dolla Phil," followed and gunned him down. In a sinister twist of fate, Derrick Ruff and Joshua Jackson fell victim to gang paranoia when Chambers, eluding capture, mistakenly tagged them as informants, and in cold blood, Green executed the two men.
Authorities stumbled upon the bodies stashed in a storage unit in March 2019, revealing the gruesome aftermath of the gang's twisted sense of justice. According to the information revealed by FOX 5 Atlanta, Chambers and Browner are set to face a mandatory minimum sentence life sentence, with Co-defendants Robert Maurice Carlisle, and Shabazz Larry Guidry also awaiting sentencing, cementing the heavy hand of justice on this cadre of criminals.
