A state of heightened alert at Dearborn High School was lifted after a shell casing was discovered on the premises, prompting a swift response from law enforcement agencies and school officials early Tuesday morning.
The shell casing's discovery led to a "soft lockdown" protocol, during which students were contained in their classrooms, and movement throughout the school was restricted, CBS News Detroit reported. No threats to students, faculty, or staff were identified, authorities stated. The investigation included participation from Michigan State Police, The ATF, Taylor police, and Bloomfield Township police, who teamed up to ensure the safety of everyone involved, WXYZ added.
While the lockdown was in place, parents and guardians were informed via email about the situation, with reassurances that there was no immediate threat to the school.
