As Saturday night’s serenity was pierced by yet another gunshot, officers were dispatched to Seabright Avenue where they found a man wounded following a verbal spat that turned violent. In the hasty retreat of the shooter, paramedics treated the victim with a non-life-threatening injury. With the suspect still on the loose, the Long Beach community has been pushed to confront the precariousness of their safety.
Further disrupting the weekend calm, a report of a gunshot on 20th Street and Pine Avenue sent police officers rushing to the scene. Though the confrontation did not result in injury, after an exchange of words, a suspect fired a shot into the air and then fled the scene, the police are investigating it as a negligent discharge.
The Long Beach Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects still at large. The recent spate of shootings has stirred unrest in the neighborhood, with local authorities working diligently to prevent further violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
