A brutal stabbing incident took place outside a Miami Beach hotel where a 20-year-old man, Alexander Hernandez, is accused of savagely attacking another man. The confrontation, which occurred on Monday at approximately 10:15 a.m. at the Tradewinds Hotel on Pine Tree Drive, left the victim in critical condition.
According to a release by Local 10 News, the dispute supposedly started over a drug deal gone awry when Hernandez was approached with an offer to purchase marijuana at a Lincoln Road McDonald's by the eventual victim. After fleeing towards the hotel, surveillance footage depicted the pair falling at the hotel's entrance, where Hernandez is said to have commenced his stabbing spree.
The arrest report detailed how the assailant inflicted multiple stab wounds on the victim, targeting the chest, liver, and one of the victim's lungs. The victim, despite his grave injuries, managed to disarm Hernandez, taking control of the folding knife and escaping the scene as a hotel guest alerted authorities.
In a statement retrieved by InfoCamptonville, Hernandez, highly incoherent at the time of arrest and seemingly under the influence, provided a false name, "Samuel Duarte," to the police. It wasn't until he was booked at the Metro West Detention Center that his true identity surfaced, unveiling the suspect's real moniker.
Upon Hernandez's apprehension, law enforcement discovered various illicit substances in his possession, including a sizeable amount of marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and residue suspected to be cocaine.
Now facing multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder and drug possession, Hernandez remains incarcerated at Miami-Dade's Metro West Detention Center. Details regarding his bond have yet to be disclosed in online jail records.
