A Saturday night altercation escalating into gunfire has left one man dead in Snellville, not far from a bustling shopping district. The violence reportedly erupted on the 1900 block of Scenic Highway shortly before 11 p.m., when a large fight broke out among an unidentified number of individuals, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Snellville police were on the scene to quickly find themselves amid the sounds of gunshots. Tragically, they discovered a man who had suffered a chest wound in the turmoil. The victim was to swiftly receive urgent medical attention, but succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital. Police have yet to apprehend any suspects or to identify publicly the man who lost his life in the incident.
Resident Roger Ordonez told FOX 5, "We’re living in terrible times. It’s becoming normal in many places." A patron of the nearby businesses, Ordonez expressed his concern, saying "The level of safety is complicated for many people."
Police are continuing to investigate the deadly incident, with details about potential culprits still wrapped within the thick of uncertainty.
