A deadly shooting tore through the calm of a St. Johns neighborhood bar late last night, leaving one man dead amid a scene of chaos and unanswered questions. The Portland Police Bureau reports officers rushed to the incident in the 8700 block of North Lombard Street following a 9:39 p.m. call detailing gunshots. Upon arrival, they found the man's life had already been claimed by the violence.
Investigations are currently underway by the Homicide detectives of the Portland Police, who have made no arrests and detained no suspects thus far. In their bid to hurriedly piece together the circumstances of this crime, they have turned to the public, appealing to anyone who might hold a piece of this grim puzzle to come forward.
The identity of the deceased will remain under wraps until the Medical Examiner can verify the exact cause of death and the next of kin have been duly notified. Due to the investigation sprawling out across the scene, North Lombard Street had to be shut down between North Baltimore Avenue and North Alta Avenue, as reported by Portland Police Bureau.
Authorities are keeping a tight lid on further details, urging that additional information will to be released when deemed suitable. The Police Information Officer chose not to attend the scene. In the meantime, Detective Jason Koenig at [email protected] or 503-823-0889, and Detective William Winters at [email protected] or 503-823-0466, stand ready to capture any leads under case number 24-29431. As the neighborhood tries to wake from this nightmare, the forces of law and order search desperately to ensure justice does not remain elusive in the shadows of this tragic event.
