Police responded to a call at 140 Pine St. NE around 6:56 p.m. and found a 40-year-old male victim with a gunshot injury. He was transported to the hospital and remains conscious and alert, said authorities.
The altercation reportedly began as a verbal argument that quickly escalated, with a suspect allegedly drawing a gun and shooting the victim. The officers on scene were able to quickly detain a person believed to possibly be connected to the shooting. "Preliminary investigation indicates a verbal dispute between the suspect and victim escalated to gunfire," Atlanta Police reported.
Detectives from the Aggravated Assault Unit were called in to closely examine the scene and piece together the events that unfolded. As the investigation continues to unfold, details surrounding the motive and the relationship between the two men, if any, are still to be clarified.
