A dispute outside a popular Midtown Atlanta bar turned violent, leaving one man shot twice in the street before police shut down a stretch of West Peachtree Street to investigate. The injured man is expected to survive, and investigators say the man accused of pulling the trigger is cooperating with police.
The shooting happened outside the Eleventh Street Pub, where Atlanta police investigated after responding to the scene, according to WSB-TV. Investigators blocked off West Peachtree Street between 11th Street and 12th Street as they worked the scene outside the pub. Capt. Germain Dearlove told the station that two men got into an argument outside the establishment before the confrontation escalated.
Argument Escalates Into Gunfire
According to Dearlove, one of the two men opened fire during the argument, striking the other man twice. The station's report notes the injured man is expected to survive his wounds.
Police said the accused shooter is cooperating with the investigation, per the station's report. A witness inside the pub said the injured man had been acting aggressively toward another customer before the shooting, though police have not confirmed that account.
