The Mansfield Police Department (MPD) had plenty to celebrate at their Annual Employee Awards Banquet yesterday. The event was brimming with gratitude as officials and community partners came together to honor the men and women in blue. Mansfield Police Department's post captured the spirit of the ceremony, where Assistant City Manager Vanessa Ramirez, City Council Member Tamara Bounds, and Mayor Michael Evans were in attendance to extend their thanks and support.
The banquet's highlight was the announcement of the department's top honors. Recognizing the commitment and bravery that are the hallmark of the job, officers and civilians alike were applauded for their service. Detective Loran White and Officer Robbin Vinnola did not only receive recognition in their respective categories but were also awarded Certificates of Merit, as the post reported. Other notable awardees included Sergeant Tom Hewitt as Police Supervisor of the Year and Officer Weston Wells as Patrol Officer of the Year.
Chief Tracy Aaron also took the opportunity to single out Ashley Coyle, President of the Mansfield Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, for her "tireless dedication and countless hours of support to the association and our officers," noted the Mansfield Police Department. Her behind-the-scenes work with the Alumni Association garners her special recognition alongside those on the front lines.
The Life Saving Award was another major focal point of the event, showcasing individuals whose actions directly contributed to saving lives within the community. Among the recipients were Officer Jessica Willis, Sergeant Kevin Manning, and Dispatch Supervisor Ashley Perkins, each credited with pivotal interventions that underscore the life-or-death realities they often face.
In a climate where the work of law enforcement is ever scrutinized and profoundly felt, the MPD's Annual Employee Awards Banquet stood as a testament to the enduring commitment of the city's protectors. As the Mansfield Police Department concluded, "Congratulations and thank you for all you do for our great City of Mansfield!" — sentiments that bind the community in mutual respect and appreciation for those who serve and protect.
