A high-speed chase in the early hours of the morning came to a dramatic conclusion when a Massachusetts man was snagged by a police K-9 after a hectic pursuit through Concord, New Hampshire. According to a Facebook post by the New Hampshire State Police, Trooper Davis of Troop D initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling north on Interstate 93 for speeding and equipment violations just past 1:40 a.m. on Monday.
The report states that the driver, Richard Gomez, 37, of Lawrence, MA, did not pull over but instead pressed the gas pedal, reaching speeds of 110 mph. Gomez's driving reportedly became erratic as he struggled to maintain lane control and, for a brief period, drove on the wrong side of Loudon Road. He eventually abandoned the vehicle at an apartment complex in Concord and attempted to escape on foot.
Gomez's run from the law was short-lived as he was tracked down by Trooper Davis's K-9 partner, Mando, after a brief chase. The suspect was subsequently arrested and will now have to answer to multiple charges in court. Gomez was slapped with a slew of accusations, including disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, and aggravated driving while intoxicated, among others, noted in the state police's announcement.
Adding to Gomez's troubles are two active NH bench warrants for his arrest that were pending before this incident. He refused bail and is scheduled to make an appearance at the Concord District Court later the same day of his arrest, with proceedings set to begin at 11 a.m. This latest legal woe for the Lawrence man is detailed in the press release provided by authorities.
