A snowmobile adventure tragically ended in death for a Massachusetts woman in Milan, New Hampshire. Authorities from New Hampshire Fish & Game have confirmed that Shawnee Hollis, 39, from North Brookfield, Massachusetts, lost her life after a crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, reported NBC Boston.

Hollis was riding with friends along Primary Trail 109 when the accident took place. Failures to correctly navigate a downhill left turn led to a collision with a tree, a mishap likely spurred by her inexperience with snowmobiling, as explained by authorities. Despite attempts to urgently transport Hollis to a medical facility, her injuries proved too dire.

Rescue crews, aided by GPS coordinates from a 911 call and the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association trail app, were able to quickly locate the injured woman. WMUR reported that after several attempts to airlift Hollis failed, she was taken by ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.

Initiating first at a local hospital, then necessitating transfer to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, attempts were made to closely fight to save Hollis's life. But the injuries she sustained were too severe, and according to authorities, she succumbed to those injuries at the medical center. Fish & Game has since stated inexperience as the leading factor in the tragic crash.
