Get ready to swap four wheels for two and pedal alongside the Mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, at the 11th Annual Bike305 Bike to Work Day on March 8. Setting off from the scenic Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne, participants will have a chance to quickly get to join a cycling legend on the 6.4-mile journey to Government Center in Downtown Miami — three-time American Tour de France winner, Greg LeMond. According to a press release by Miami-Dade County's official website, LeMond will serve as this year's Honorary Ride Marshal.
The event aims to encourage locals to cycle their way to the workplace, promoting a healthier lifestyle and showcasing cycling as a viable commuting option. Participants are urged to arrive early for the ride, which will kick off at 7 a.m. The route options include the full 6.4-mile course, as well as a shorter 3.4-mile path for those opting to not ride the bridge. According to the details shared by Miami Dade Parks on X, the ride will be led by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and be accompanied by marshal Greg LeMond.

Moreover, the City of North Miami Beach will be receiving the 2024 Bike305 Municipality of the Year award during the event's closing ceremonies at Government Center. LeMond is also slated to deliver the closing remarks. Launched in 2013, Bike305 has expanded significantly, now involving 27 local municipalities that work together on promoting bike safety and advocating for alternative, sustainable modes of transportation.
The importance of such initiatives is underscored through volunteerism. Interested individuals aged 16 and over are invited to lend a hand on Bike to Work Day. The responsibilities range from event setup to rider organization, and engagement with attendees. Volunteers are promised an official event t-shirt and can receive community service hours, as detailed on Miami-Dade County's official website.
