McDonald's franchises across South and Central Texas have embraced the spirit of giving, launching a fundraiser aptly named "Share the Love" to support local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The drive, which runs through Valentine's Day, February 14, aims to help families of children undergoing vital medical treatment in the San Antonio area. "Help us share the love this February and raise funds to keep families close," Maria Acosta, a local McDonald's owner and operator, told Fox San Antonio.
Participating McDonald's restaurants are inviting customers to donate by adding a $1, $3, or $5 contribution to their meal, whether at the drive-thru or at the register. The collective support is set to aide four RMHC chapters: Central Texas, San Antonio, South Texas, and Temple. Restaurants are displaying paper houses to signify each contribution and the solidarity with the local RMHC chapter supported. Ed Lutito, a local McDonald’s owner/operator and President of McDonald’s of South and Central Texas, emphasized the impact of the initiative, "It’s our sincere hope that the funds raised help change the lives of many families in our area," according to Community Impact.
The RMHC's mission is to provide a nurturing home away from home for families while their children receive the medical care they need. This gesture by McDonald's seeks to lessen the burden on those families, ensuring they can stay together during these challenging times. It's not only during fundraising events that customers can support RMHC. The initiative to round up change to the nearest whole dollar, known as Round-Up for RMHC, allows donations to flow year-round, every time a customer dines at McDonald's and opts to round up at the kiosks inside the restaurant or through the drive-thru.
In the spirit of community and outreach, this "Share the Love" campaign underscores McDonald's commitment to more than just serving fast food; it's about serving hope and support to those in need within the heart of Texas. This collaborative effort goes beyond the month of love, engraving a legacy of charity and empathy well into the future. The simple act of rounding up a meal purchase to the nearest dollar can have a profound and lasting impact on the families served by the RMHC, according to Community Impact.
