In a sweep against illegal street takeovers, Miami-Dade police put the brakes on two suspects accused of wreaking havoc on county roads. On Monday, officers of the Miami-Dade Police Department publicized the arrests of Chenel Chevalier, 22, of Hollywood, and Jacardi Khaul Everett, 25, of Miami Gardens, nabbed as a part of the ongoing clampdown on reckless driving displays that endanger the public.
As reported by Local 10, Chevalier stands accused of participating in at least three illegal racing events, with charges against him including drag racing, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The authorities said these incidents occurred in Miami Gardens on Aug. 26 and in North Miami on Dec. 30 and Jan. 28, respectively. Everett’s rap sheet is currently topped off with accusations of fleeing and alluding after the latest street takeover on Saturday in Opa-locka.
According to the arrest report shared by InfoBovina, Everett allegedly engaged in a game of cat and mouse with law enforcement, using a white towel to obscure his license plate. Defiant, Everett reportedly refused to yield to the officers in charge of an operation targeting the illegal street stunts held near Northwest 135th Street and 37th Avenue.
Everett pushed his luck and the limits of his Chevrolet Camaro, fleeing from police at a high speed. The report stated he maneuvered "recklessly" onto Florida’s Turnpike and eventually to Northwest 199th Street in Miami Gardens, which is where the police managed to finally apprehend him. Both suspects, however, were not listed in Miami-Dade jail records as of Monday afternoon, according to the initial reports following their arrest.
