The parents of a Miami social media model, embroiled in a tragic crime saga, have been booked in a Florida jail this Tuesday, according to NBC Miami. Kim Dewayne Clenney, 60, and Deborah Lyn Clenney, 57, face allegations of unauthorized computer access following the high-profile murder case involving their daughter, Courtney Clenney.
After their initial arrest in Texas on January 30, the Clenney couple posted a $5,000 bond each before being extradited to Florida. Their daughter, now 27, is accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, in their luxury Miami condo in April 2022. The parents are now charged with unlawfully attempting to access Obumseli's laptop post-mortem, intending to seemingly defend their daughter, as opposed to supporting prosecutors’ investigation.
In a statement obtained by NBC Miami, representatives for the accused couple declared, "The allegations are frivolous and entirely without merit. The charge is such an overreach by law enforcement that it seems clear they are being targeted for being witnesses in their daughter’s case." The couple's legal team denounces this as a misuse of power and an attempt to intimidate the Clenneys from supporting their daughter, vowing that such tactics would "never happen."
Further details revealed by WSVN include text messages, unearthed after investigators were granted access to the iCloud accounts of Courtney and her parents. These messages purportedly show the parents discussing how to possibly gain access to Obumseli's computer, as authorities dug deeper into the evidence surrounding Obumseli's untimely demise.
Meanwhile, the Obumseli family remains absorbed by grief, as a lawyer for the family in a statement released to WSVN conveyed a palpable sadness upon the recent developments. "This is yet another disturbing reminder of the horrible crimes committed against their family," the statement read. The Obumselis continue their pursuit of justice for Christian through criminal and civil channels, reserving further comment until more documentation is made public by law enforcement bodies.
As for Courtney Clenney, she remains in custody, held without bond on a second-degree murder charge as she awaits her trial. The social media figure, formerly known on platforms like Instagram and OnlyFans under the name Courtney Tailor, has come to embody a narrative fraught with violence, tragedy, and now, a family ensnared by the law in the wake of a controversy that has captured widespread public attention.
