A tragic car crash has claimed the life of a Massachusetts man in Middleborough this past weekend. At approximately 12:30 p.m on Sunday, the Middleborough Police Department responded to an incident off Thompson Street, along Route 105, just south of the Plain Street intersection, Boston 25 News reported.

The driver, a 66-year-old resident of Middleborough, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle collided with a tree. His identity has not been released, pending notification of family. According to officials, Police Chief Joseph Perkins, and Fire Chief Owen Thompson, no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The area between Plain, and Precinct streets was closed to traffic as authorities conducted their investigation, WCVB reported.

As investigations continue, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, along with the Crime Prevention and Control Unit, are working to determine the cause of the crash. The Middleborough police are also involved in the ongoing investigation. Officials have not yet provided details on what may have led to this fatal incident.
