Minneapolis residents can expect a mix of sunshine and clouds with a side of fog this week, with temperatures hovering in the comfy mid-40s to low 50s, according to the National Weather Service. Today brings mostly sunny skies after a bout of morning fog, reaching a high near 44 degrees with light winds.
The forecast indicates that cloud cover will be on the increase tonight, dropping temperatures to a chilly 27 degrees. Light winds from the north will persist as the week rolls on, with Monday and Monday night holding on to that blanket of clouds, the latter finally parting ways to reveal a clearer sky. Tuesday will usher in mostly sunny weather, and a nice bump in warmth with it, all thanks to a southern breeze picking up to 10 to 15 mph.
The record winter warmth continues this week, with record highs possible Tue thru Thu. Rain will be possible Wednesday night into Thursday, with cooler weather to follow next weekend. Though cooler, we still look to be running a few degrees above normal. #mnwx #wiwx. pic.twitter.com/iZJ8oiyGPj

The Hazardous Weather Outlook published by the National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN cautions against areas of fog that could pose visibility issues through this morning and again into tonight. This threat is set to linger into Monday morning. While no Skywarn spotter activation is necessary, residents should be aware of potential travel impacts due to the reduced visibility.
Midweek forecasts promise a hint of warmth with highs hovering around 53 degrees on Wednesday, but the balmier air may come with a cost—the increasing likelihood of rain as the week progresses. The weather service warns of a 40 percent chance of rain starting Wednesday night, escalating to a 70 percent chance come Thursday. Ungusty south-southeast winds will also be on tap, reaching speeds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
The end of the week might be a toss-up between cloudy skies, rain showers, and a high near 43 degrees on Friday. The possibility of raindrops stays in the forecast, floating around a 30 percent chance. But fear not, as the weekend approaches, the skies will mostly clear by Friday night. Saturday looks to bring mostly cloudy conditions with a cooler high of 37 degrees and northwestern breezes to close out the week.
