Chilling new footage captures the last conversation between a Hialeah teen and his mother just moments before he is alleged to have murdered her in cold blood. Derek Rosa, the 13-year-old accused of the heinous crime, can be seen speaking to his mother and then calmly calling 911 after the fact. According to Local 10, the doorbell camera videos provide a harrowing look at the events leading up to and following the stabbing death of 39-year-old Irina Garcia.
The first segment of the video shows Garcia telling her son not to run, to which he responds in Spanish, inquiring why she always issues such commands. Within mere seconds, Rosa reentered the apartment, and shortly thereafter, police allege, he murdered Garcia with a knife while she slept beside his two-week-old half-sister at their Amelia Oaks apartment. A detective would later testify, Garcia suffered 46 stab wounds. On the distressing doorbell camera footage, Rosa is captured afterwards interacting with a police dispatcher, asking, "I see officers, do I leave?" The dispatcher instructs him to stay put. The exchange occurred as the glow of police lights began to illuminate the scene from a distance.
Rosa, who is currently being held in adult jail, confessed to the stabbing, which occurred back in October. The victim was found by responders in her bedroom, an infant unhurt in the crib beside her. Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office released the video showing Rosa's eerie composure as he conferred with the 911 operator, as featured in a report by CBS News Miami.
