Bodycam footage has captured the dramatic arrest of a suspect linked to a grim spree of violence spanning several states. Raad Almansoori, 26, was taken into custody after being tracked to a Scottsdale parking garage, according to a video released by police. Accused of stabbing a Surprise McDonald's employee and leaving a trail of terror that includes a New York murder, Almansoori's past is checkered with allegations of kidnapping and sexual assault in Florida and Texas, reported FOX 10 Phoenix.
Spotted in his car by the Scottsdale Police Department's Real Time Crime Center, Almansoori's failed attempt to flee ended with guns drawn and handcuffs clicked around his wrists. Allegedly confessing to the killing of 38-year-old Denisse Oleas-Arancibia in Manhattan earlier on February 8, he now sits in Arizona waiting for a March 4 hearing on his extradition which has sparked discord between Maricopa County's top prosecutor and New York's district attorney, as noted by AZFamily.
Before his arrest, Almansoori is believed to have attacked a woman in a Phoenix carjacking attempt and followed a fast-food worker into the Surprise McDonald's restroom to assault her with a blade. His spree reached a devasting peak in New York, where police say he admitted to taking the life of Oleas-Arancibia at a SoHo hotel. The chilling confessions came while Almansoori was under police custody, where he remains as debates over his legal fate continue to unfold.
In the recently released video, an officer's truck appears to have been purposefully parked, blocking any potential escape route for Almansoori's silver sedan. The suspect was later shown escorted and secured in the back of a police SUV, with authorities declaring their efforts had made "the community a safer place." Involved in the arrest were Scottsdale's force and other Valley agencies, who swiftly responded upon confirming the suspect's whereabouts.
