A habitual lawbreaker is once again behind bars after New Bedford police collared him for breaking into a car, linked to a shoplifting spree. Javier Montalvo, 45, a New Bedford local with a rap sheet as lengthy as a CVS receipt, was nabbed shortly after the witching hour on February 6th, according to the city's police department.

The city's finest were lending a hand to the Dartmouth police, probing a petty theft at Cumberland Farms on Rockdale Ave. As New Bedford's officers scoured the adjoining streets, their diligence paid off when Officers Juniel Jordan and Cameron Patota stumbled upon both Montalvo, and a freshly burgled vehicle thrown open and picked over by opportunistic hands near Domino's Pizza. The vehicle's proprietor was there, cataloguing missing belongings presumably snagged by Montalvo, per New Bedford Police Department's Facebook post.

Montalvo's encounter with the law concluded with charges for breaking into a vehicle night-time, felonious intent in plain sight, and carrying a knife against the city's strict blade-length law. Meanwhile, Dartmouth's boys in blue stamped his file with a charge for the Cumberland Farms shoplifting gig.

Already out on bail with four cases pending their day in court, Montalvo with 33 arraignments and 15 guilty scores on everything from jaywalking to grand theft auto.
