Oakland Man Charged in Brentwood Commercial Burglaries, Found with Drugs and Explosive DeviceSource: City of Brentwood - Police Department

In a string of commercial break-ins that rattled businesses along Brentwood's Lone Tree Corridor, police have cracked the case leading to charges against one Oakland man. Marcus Palacios, 49, was nabbed by Brentwood cops after a traffic stop turned up drugs and evidence linked to the burglaries.

According to a Facebook post by the Brentwood Police Department, the bust went down on February 17 when swing shift officers stopped Palacios and found over four ounces of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office has since thrown the book at Palacios, hitting him with multiple counts. He faces charges for burglaries dating back to August 2023, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to sell, and vandalism. Palacios’s troubles didn't end there; he got slapped with an additional charge for having an explosive device after Oakley PD fished out a grenade launcher from his vehicle during a joint probation search.

The Brentwood police lauded the seamless joint operation with detectives and patrol officers, as well as with Oakley PD. "This case is a prime example of how our Patrol Officers and Detectives work hand-in-hand to solve crimes within our city," the department stated.

Palacios is currently cooling his heels in custody, pending a preliminary hearing, with bail set at a steep $420,000. The police hinted at more arrests as the investigation is ongoing.
